Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Donatello, My Planning Week 32 2014  was before Ralphael. I printed red, purple, blue, and orange name of the turtles Raphael, Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo in the same font at the top right of the page.  I used a few Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle stickers through out the week.  I chose Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle as the theme this month in honor of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Movie that released Friday, August 8, 2014.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (often shortened to TMNT or Ninja Turtles) are a fictional team of four teenage antrhropomorphic turtles, named after four Renaissance artists, who were trained by their anthropomorphic rat sensei in the art of ninjutsu. From their home in the storm sewers of New York City, they battle petty criminals, evil overlords, mutated animals, and alien invaders while attempting to remain isolated from society.

The characters originated in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book before their expansion into a cartoon series, films, video games, toys, and other general merchandise.  During the peak of the franchise’s popularity in the late 1980s through the early 1990s, it gained considerable worldwide success and fame.

• Leonardo (Leo) – The tactical, courageous leader and devoted student of his sensei, Leonardo wears a blue mask and wields two long, razor-sharp swords. As the most authoritative of the four, he often bears the burden of responsibility for his brothers, which commonly leads to conflict with Raphael. Leonardo was named after the Italian polymath, painter, engineer, inventor, writer, anatomist, and sculptor, Leonardo da Vinci.

• Michelangelo (Mike or Mikey) – An easy-going and free-spirited jokester, Michelangelo wears an orange mask and wields a pair of nunchakus. He is the least mature of the four Turtles and provides the Comic relief. Michelangelo has an adventurous side coupled with a love of pizza. He is somewhat of a “surfer” boy and is often depicted with a Southern Californian accent. He is named after the Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet, and engineer, Michaelangelo. His name was originally misspelled “Michaelangelo” by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman.

• Raphael (Raph) – The team’s bad boy, Raphael wears a dark red mask and wields a pair of sai. He is physically strong, has an aggressive nature, and seldom hesitates to throw the first punch. He is often depicted with a New York accent. His personality can be fierce and sarcastic, and oftentimes delivers deadpan humor. He is intensely loyal to his brothers and sensei. He is named after the Italian painter and architect of the High Renaissance, Raphael.

• Donatello (Don or Donnie) – The scientist, inventor, engineer, and technological genius, Donatello wears a purple mask and wields a bo staff. Donatello is perhaps the least violent turtle, preferring to use his knowledge to solve conflicts, but never hesitates to defend his brothers. He is named after the early Renaissance Italian artist and sculptor from Florence, Donatello.

Raphael or Raph, is a fictional character and one of the four protagonists of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and all related media.  Raphael wields twin sai as his primary weapon.  He is generally the most likely to experience extremes of emotion, and is usually depicted as being aggressive, sullen, maddened, and rebellious. My introduction to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was through the Television version, 1987 animated series because of my oldest son.  We would watch the cartoon on a regular bases.

Raphael’s personality in the 1987 animated series deviates the most from all other incarnations. The show’s theme song states that Raphael is “cool, but crude” (he takes a slice of pizza with his sai and shoves the rest of it onto the screen), as opposed to being angry and sullen as in other versions. His toned-down attitude was mostly due to the fact that this series was based primarily on humor. Raphael is a sarcastic wise-guy, and supplies comic relief alongside Michelangelo whose humor is usually attributed to his ignorance and spaciness, whereas Raphael is more sarcastic and witty. As a result, Michelangelo is the subject of Raphael’s jokes more than any other Turtle. He frequently makes jokes that break the fourth wall.

In the 1987 animated series Donatello is depicted as a genius who invents many of the turtles vehicles and equipment including the Turtle Van, the Turtle Blimp and the Turtle Com. He also invented the portable portal capable of opening gateways to other dimensions as well as an early warning system which warns of impending attacks from other dimensions.  Donatello comes up with most of the plans and solutions to the turtles predicaments.

Michelangelo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)

Michelangelo, Mike or Mikey (which they usually call him), is a fictional character and one of the four protagonists of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and all related media.  My introduction to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was through the Television version, 1987 animated series because of my oldest son.  We would watch the cartoon on a regular bases.

Michelangelo’s persona became strongly established in the 1987 animated series.  He was often seen as a “Party Dude”, which, though accurate in the 1987 series (which gave him this title in the theme song), accounts for only part of his personality otherwise. As the “party dude”, he usually didn’t have much input in the team’s plans, although he was still just as active as his brothers. He typically spent much of his time joking and socializing with other characters. He is most associated with the “Cowabunga” expression that became a pop culture phenomenon.

Michelangelo had a fondness for pizza, even beyond that of the other Turtles; in the Season 3 episode Cowabunga, Shredhead, his pizza cravings annoyed the others so much that Splinter hypnotized him into refusing and denouncing pizza whenever the very word was mentioned, although the hypnosis was lifted at the end of the episode. He was essentially a provider of comic relief, alongside Raphael.

His mask is typically portrayed as orange and his weapons are dual nunchaku, though he has also been portrayed using other weapons, such as a grappling hook, manriki-gusari, tonfa, and a three section staff (in some action figures).

Transformers:  Decepticon – Barricade

My Planning Week Thirty is Transformer Barricade.   I used Silver washi tape for the borders.  I printed out, Notes & To Do:, in silver for the bottom of the page.  I printed a silver Barricade and blue Decepticon in the same font.    I used a few Transformer Barricade stickers through out the week.  I chose Transformers as the theme this month in honor of the new Transformer Movie that release a few weeks ago.  Megatron was last week,  My Planning Week 29 2014  .  Bumblebee was the week before Megatron, My Planning Week 28 2014 .   Optimus Prime was the week before Bumblebee My Planning Week 27 2014.
